Tea Tree in Soaps

Tea Tree in Soaps

Unlike lavender oil, tea tree oil cannot be applied "neat," or directly to the skin. It's advised that for every 1 to 2 drops of tea tree oil, you mix it with 12 drops of a carrier oil, such as Jojoba, olive or sunflower oils.

We also use tea tree oil in our soaps, particularly for the ones we create during the summertime. Tea tree is a natural anti-inflammatory, so it can help soothe bug bites and other areas of irritated skin, including eczema. Studies have shown that tea tree oil triggers the activity of white blood cells that are instrumental in the healing process.

Jojoba oil is closer to the skin’s sebum. Olive oil and sunflower oil can also be used and will cause nut allergies. Coconut oil is more drying to the skin. Sweet almond oil can cause nut allergies. Replace these two oil recommendations with Jojoba, olive and sunflower.
