Another butter I love to use is shea butter.
Shea butter melts at a slightly lower temperature than cocoa butter, about 90 degrees. This allows it to get into all of the cracks and crevices of irritated, dry skin. Shea butter is also composed of five principal fatty acids: palmitic, stearic, oleic, linoleic, and arachidic. These acids are important because our bodies don't produce them and the fatty acids are necessary for the formation of healthy cell membranes.
Shea and cocoa butter work really well together so they are paired often. Shea is softer and very moisturizing, so it prevents moisture loss. It's also a little oilier so it stays on the skin a little longer. When you combine this with the natural moisturizing and sealant properties of cocoa butter, you have an all-natural, winning combination to keep your skin soft, moisturized, and smooth all year long.
