Whipped Shaving Cream for Dry Skin - DIY My Best-Selling

Whipped Shaving Cream for Dry Skin - DIY My Best-Selling

If you’re tired of dry, itchy skin after shaving, you’re not alone. I used to dread shaving because it always left my legs feeling like sandpaper—until I started making this whipped shaving cream. It’s become a best-seller in my shop, and today I’m sharing the exact formula and method so you can make it too!

This creamy, skin-loving shaving cream is perfect for dry and sensitive skin. It’s made with a luxurious blend of olive butter, chamomile extract, hemp seed oil, and white kaolin clay—all whipped into a soft, creamy texture that glides like silk. I even give it a pretty white and purple swirl, making it as beautiful as it is functional.

Why Use Shaving Cream?

Shaving cream isn’t just a fancy step, it’s a skin saver. It softens the hair, cushions the blade, and locks in moisture, all while minimizing irritation. For dry skin especially, it helps prevent that tight, scratchy feeling that can happen after shaving. When you use a handmade, moisturizing shaving cream like this one, your skin stays smooth, happy, and hydrated.

How to Make Whipped Shaving Cream

Best Practices: If you're selling your products, follow good manufacturing practices: wear gloves, a mask, a hairnet, and work in a clean, sanitized environment. No animals or distractions.

Step-by-Step Directions:

1.      Melt the Butters:
Weigh 0.5 oz olive butter and 0.5 oz hemp seed oil. Place it in a double boiler and heat just until melted.

2.      Prepare Additives:
In a separate bowl, measure 0.5 oz chamomile extract, 5 ml preservative, and 1 tbsp kaolin clay. Set aside.

3.      Base Prep:
Empty 16 oz of foaming bath whip into a large mixing bowl.

4.      Combine:
Add your melted oils to the bath whip and mix until smooth.

5.      Add Additives:
Stir in the chamomile, preservative, and clay blend until fully incorporated.

6.      Scent & Color (First Batch):
Add 7.5 ml fragrance oil. Mix thoroughly.

7.      Repeat for Purple Batch:
Repeat steps 1–6, but add ½ tsp purple mica.

8.      Piping:
Transfer the white and purple cream into a piping bags or zip-close bag and set aside.

9.      Fill Your Containers:
Use both piping bags to fill 5 oz airless pump bottles simultaneously. This creates a fun swirl effect! Tap gently to settle the cream, top off, and cap.

To Use:

Lather a small amount of cream onto damp skin, shave as usual, then rinse clean. Pat skin dry and enjoy the silky softness!

Why This Recipe Works for Dry Skin

This formula was designed with dry, sensitive skin in mind. Each ingredient serves a purpose:

  • Olive Butter & Hemp Seed Oil: deeply hydrating and rich in fatty acids.
  • Chamomile Extract: soothing and calming for irritated or inflamed skin.
  • Kaolin Clay: helps detox and soften without stripping skin.
  • Foaming Bath Whip: provides a gentle, non-drying lather.
  • Lavender & Chamomile Scents: promote relaxation and elevate the sensory experience.

Substitution for Olive Butter Blend: Almond Butter, Argan Butter, Hemp Butter and Macadamia Butter are all high in fatty acids and could serve as a substitute for Olive Butter.
