Step 1: Heat the Melt & Pour Soap Base & Cocoa Butter
Add the cut up melt and pour soap base to a bowl. Heat the soap in the microwave in short 30 second intervals until fully melted. Melt the cocoa butter in a separate bowl in 30 second burst until it looks clear. Pour into a large mixing bowl or stand mixer bowl.
Step 2: Glycerin and Cocoa Butter – Moisturizing Ingredients
Add the glycerin and cocoa butter - soap mixture to the bowl and mix with a hand mixer or stand mixer on low until fully blended. These ingredients help nourish and hydrate the skin while enhancing the scrub’s creamy texture.
Step 3: Quickly Add the Foaming Soap Base
Add the foaming soap base into the bowl and mix on low. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, whip the soap base on medium speed for 1-2 minutes until it becomes light and fluffy. Mixture will look creamy and fluffy like a marshmallow texture.
Step 4: Add the Preservative
Once the temperature is below 100 degrees, according to the preservative you use, add it to the bowl. Mix the ingredients well. This will help if water is introduced to the product when being used.
Step 5: Mix in Sugar & Color
Gradually fold in granulated sugar until the scrub reaches your desired consistency. For a pop of color, mix beet root powder using a fine mesh strainer to make sure it’s a fine powder. Although the natural beet root powder may fade over time because it’s a natural ingredient you may omit this ingredient.
If you want a more vibrant shade, try blending in mica powder for a soft, shimmery effect.
Step 6: Add Scent & Essential Oils
Now, it’s time to add lavender essential oil and any fragrance oils you love. Start with 5-10 drops, then adjust based on your preference. Stir well to ensure an even distribution. Make sure to use International Fragrance Association guidance or the recommended usage level from the supplier usually recommended in percent. For your information here: https://ifrafragrance.org/
Step 7: Pipe the Scrub into Jars
This is where the magic happens! Transfer the whipped scrub into a piping bag fitted with a large open star tip (or no tip at all as seen in the video). Gently squeeze the piping bag to swirl the scrub into your jars.
📌 Pro Tip: Although in the video you’ll see I piped the sugar scrub quickly, so it did not get too firm before being piped. If your scrub is too soft, let it sit for 10-15 minutes before piping it firms up slightly, making it easier to pipe.
Step 8: Label, Store & Enjoy
Seal the jars with airtight lids and label them with a use-by date (recommend 6 – 9 months from the making date). Keep them in a cool, dry place.
How to Use Whipped Sugar Scrub
